Rainforest Secret Sounds

Small group or whole class

Resources:

• A screen
• Six soft toys/models of noisy rainforest creatures
• Six percussion instruments
• Laminated pictures of the creatures (See templates provided with EYFS Quest 1)

Activity:

The children sit in a circle. They name the rainforest creatures and rehearse the sounds they make. The adult plays the percussion instruments and children and adult agree an instrument to match each creature. The instruments are placed behind the screen with the pictures as labels. The adult plays an instrument and the children have to guess which animal’s sound is being played. The children then take turns to go behind the screen whilst their classmates guess the sound. To make the game more challenging a sequence of sounds may be played. The children in the circle have to put the animals in the same order as the sounds that have been played.
