Rainforest Multimedia

Scarlet Macaw © Don Hadden/Ardea.com We know that teachers want to make their lessons as exciting as possible.  To that end, we have provided you with some fantastic multimedia materials to help you bring the experience of the rainforest into the classroom.

> Gallery
Our Gallery holds a great selection of rainforest images for you to use, including forest views, rainforest plants and creatures and native peoples.

> Rainforest Sounds
Sound recordist Chris Watson has generously provided us with 16 recordings taken in the rainforests of South America.  The tracks are numbered as they happen throughout the day and into the night, and include the sounds of birds, monkeys, insects and other rainforest wildlife.

Live Webcams
You can now view live streaming webcams from various locations around the world - a birdfeeder in the rainforest of the Buenaventura Reserve in Ecuador, another feeder on Buckland Farm in Dorset, UK and a third courtesy of Rancho Ornithos in Brazil.  You can also view a live stream from the Rainforest Biome at the Eden Project in Cornwall, UK and choose from our links to other live webcams.

Useful Videos
Incorporate film into your lessons by showing your students the amazing viral films made by The Prince's Rainforests Project.  On this page you will also find rainforest videos from the BBC, more live webcams  and The Story of Stuff.

Music
The special song 'Breathe' was written for the Save The Amazon Rainforest Organisation (STARO) by singer Luc Floreani, while 'Ants' was composed by Chico Chacas for the eco-musical education project For All Kids. Listen to the music and download the lyrics for both these songs, and make them part of your lessons by using the special lesson plans.
