Eco-Schools

EcoSchoolsThe Prince’s Rainforests Project (PRP) for Schools is delighted to have teamed up with Eco-Schools to help you gain your Eco-Schools awards.

As you may know, the PRP has created lesson and project ideas (called Quests) to bring the issues surrounding rainforests to life.

You can use all the PRP’s resources to cover Eco-Schools’ Biodiversity and Global Perspectives themes - except Quest 2 for children aged 7-11 which relates only to biodiversity. To view the PRP resources, click here.

If you are supplying evidence for your Eco-Schools silver or green flags, you can use the PRP materials to help meet the criteria in points 6 and 10. Click here to find out more.

To find out how PRP resources can contribute to Eco-Schools, view the table below.  But please note that taking part in these activities will only count towards the Eco-Schools Bronze, Silver and Green Flag awards as long as the school is following the Eco-Schools process. Click here to view the criteria.

Taking part in these activities can be used simultaneously to participate in the PRP’s own award scheme.

  1. Sign up your school. Registering in 3 easy steps takes approximately 1 minute.

  2. Make sure you have the processes in place to qualify for your Eco-schools award – to find out more visit the Eco-Schools Getting Started pages.

  3. Use the lessons and activities to show your school has covered Biodiversity and/or Global Perspectives themes.

  4. Communicate your work with the whole school and wider community through, for example, assemblies, newsletters and open days.

  5. Make a note and take photos of your work and the date completed and add to your portfolio of evidence. This can be shown at your Eco-School’s Green Flag assessment.
